This Year 2018 - 19 Sunandan Divatia School of Science organized "Continuing Physiotherapy Education in ICU” on 9th February, 2019. It was a 1 day lecture series giving an overview about the Intensive Care Unit as well as empowering the knowledge of various approaches and early intervention for the patients in the ICU.
Total of 100 Physiotherapists participated in the conference which included students from various institutions in Mumbai, Pune and those working in different hospitals. There were about 20 Iranian physiotherapists attending the event too.
The program was inaugurated by the Chief Speaker Dr Abdul Ansari, Director Critical Care, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital ; Dr Aparna Khanna, Dean ,School of Science ,NMIMS; Dr Ali Irani ,Head Of Dept. Physiotherapy, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital
Dr Ansari enlightened the members of the conference with various aspects of the "Mechanical Ventilators” and its clinical implications. Other speakers during this conference included Dr Poonam Parulekar, Assist Prof NMIMS, SDODS talk on " Monitoring in the ICU” and Dr. Salil Bendre, Senior Pulmonologist, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, who made interpreting "Chest Xrays” seem effortless.
Dr. Maria Jiandani, Associate Prof., Seth GSMC and KEM Hospital, talked on "Early Mobilisation and Weaning”; giving brief idea about the various treatment approaches and adjuncts used during giving chest physiotherapy in the ICU. Dr. Anmol Sonawane an upcoming Cardiologist (Jupiter Hospital) talk on "ECGs” empowered the knowledge of the ‘PQRSTs’ thus making it easy to remember and follow. Dr. Suresh Birajdar, Neonatologist, Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital through his talk on "Considerations in PICU” shared his knowledge and recent advances about management of a pediatric in a PICU.
The future scope of management of a patient in PICU /ICU was also discussed.
The event was concluded by a vote of thanks given by Dr. Sabah Thaver, Assist. Prof, SDSOS.
