NMIMS Sunandan Divatia School of Science organized its first International Conference on Advances in Materials Science & Applied Biology on January 8th-10th, 2019. The Chief Guest of the conference, Padma Vibhushan Professor Man Mohan Sharma (Former Director of Institute of Chemical Technology) opened the session with his eloquent speech on the need of Blue Skies Research in the Indian society. More than 300 researchers and students attended the International Conference. The conference had 20 invited speakers from across the globe (Germany, Israel, Japan, UK, USA and India) and with more than 60+ posters and 15 oral presentations from varied fields. The talks were interdisciplinary and were well received by the audience. The entire conference was perceived as to be very well-coordinated with exceptional good quality arrangements and scientific feast for entire 3 days. One could also find real enthusiasm and curiosity of young researchers during the talks and poster sessions. There was an evening of cultural program held on day 1 comprising of different forms of traditional folk and contemporary dances, singing and drama to give a glimpse of the Indian culture. Posters were evaluated by subject experts and select posters of various categories were awarded. Travel grants were also provided to research students and young scientist from India and abroad.
