Mindfulness, Positive Organizational Behavior, Mixed Methods Research, Phenomenological Qualitative Research.

Current Research Interests:

Contemplative Psychology, Applied Positive Psychology, Buddhist Psychology, Phenomenological Research.

Education:

Dr. Heena completed her Ph.D. in Positive Organizational Psychology from Department of Applied Psychology and Counselling Centre, University of Mumbai in 2022. As a Ph.D. scholar, she worked extensively on understanding the effects of indigenous mindfulness-based techniques on managers and leaders from Mumbai. As a Ph.D. scholar, she took lectures on Positive Organizational Behavior and Change Management for MA Part II students, and voluntary lectures on Vipassana and Psychology, Vipassana for Professionals, Vipassana and Modern Psychology for Vipassana Research Institute, Mumbai. She has received her M.A. degree in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from University of Mumbai in 2013, and has completed B.A. in Psychology, Economics, Geography and English from Lady Amritbai Daga College for Women, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaja Nagpur University in 2011.

Awards, Honors, Accolades:

Recipient of full bursary for attending Contemplative Science Symposium and partial bursary for participating in contemplative retreat for young contemplative early-career scholars as awarded and conducted by Mind and Life Europe (Germany) in 2019.

One of the five recipients of full tuition (research) bursary for attending Oxford Mindfulness Summer School, as awarded and organized by Oxford Mindfulness Centre (University of Oxford, Oxford, UK) in 2016.

Recipient of Savitribai Phule National Research Fellowship and Savitribai Phule National Senior Research Fellowship for the state's women scholars for completion of Ph.D., as awarded by Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (BARTI, Pune) in 2015.

Cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) for Assistant Professorship and Ph.D. as conducted by University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2013.

Recipient of Late Suresh Shankarrao Ambhore Memorial gold medal, Dr Ambedkar gold medal, Shivaji Narayan Makode gold medal and V. R. Lakhkar silver medal in Economics at UG level during 99th convocation ceremony of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaja Nagpur University in 2012.

Selected for and participated in Mindfulness Summer School themed Mindfulness and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy: the long view as organized by Oxford Mindfulness Centre from August 22-26, 2016 (Oxford, UK).

Extra-curricular activities:

Apart from academics, Dr. Heena has been practicing Insight (Vipassana) and Concentration (Jhana) meditation since 2012, and has completed several beginners’ and advanced silent meditation retreats. She had also been a co-organizer of several Comics, Japanese, Cosplay and Anime-promoting youth festivals in Nagpur from 2014 to 2017. Lately, she has taken to poetry, and has been blogging since 2021 on her web-blog "Nuts for Thought” (https://blog.maitri-sankalpa.net).
