The launch of E-pitome, The Entrepreneurship Cell of N.M.I.M.S. Sunandan Divatia School of Science was organized on 13th October, 2017.
The event was held at Juhu Jagruti Hall and graced by the presence of various esteemed dignitaries. The event was started with an enlightening speech by Dr. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor of S.V.K.M.’s N.M.I.M.S, on motivating students to move towards entrepreneurship and participate in various entrepreneurial summits in and around Mumbai. Our respected Dr. Aparna Khanna, Dean of N.M.I.M.S. S.D.S.O.S, then shared words of wisdom and motivated every student in our school to take steps towards entrepreneurship. This was followed by a speech by Ayushi Mody, President of E-pitome, who put forth her ideas and vision on how the E-cell would prosper in the coming years and a speech by Farhan Shaikh, Head of Research department at E-pitome, sharing his views on how the Research team would help the students here.
After the introduction on E-pitome, the event proceeded by speeches from our two guest speakers of the day, Ms. Manizaay Kaikobad and Ms. Rashi Mehta, co-founders of the start-up The Ripple Effect. The Ripple Effect is a social enterprise that handpicks an exotic range of products from underprivileged artisans, NGOs and sustainability ventures, and provides them with a platform that connects to millions. They shared their story with the students, as to how they got an idea of starting their own social enterprise, what difficulties they faced as an entrepreneur giving students an insight on ‘A Day in the Life of an Entrepreneur’, which was the theme of the event. The guests were then felicitated by our Dean, Dr. Aparna Khanna.
The interactive speech given by the guest speakers was then followed by a Business quiz, In-QUIZ-itive exclusively for the students of Sunandan Divatia School of Science, NMIMS. This quiz was designed in such a way to inculcate the business attitude among the students and involved two rounds with an increasing level of difficulty each round. There were ten groups of three members each involving students from all the backgrounds. At the end of the second round, the top three teams were announced and given prizes. The winners of the quiz were students from T.Y.B.Sc. Applied Statistics and Analytics - Siddhika Sawant, Jeet Shah and Jignesh Fatnani. Overwhelming response from the students' end made this event a grand success, which was then concluded by the prize distribution session for the winners of the quiz.
