PLACEMENT CELL ACTIVITIES : SEPTEMBER 2014
FOR DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS
- Prestin retail solutions, based in Boston founded by the Phene brothers visited the SOS campus on 3rd September 2014. The founding company being Prestin Infotech, Prestin Retail Solutions is the retail division of the company, which aims to carve a niche in retail management. The MSc. Statistics Part II students gave a presentation to the Phene brothers, wherein they were updated about the course, curriculum structure, projects undertaken etc. The delegates in turn discussed about the various avenues available for statistics students in the retail sector. The placement activities were also discussed in detail with possible opportunities for internships & campus placements by Prestin Retail.
- TCS has confirmed the campus recruitment process for the MSC. Statistics Part 2 students for Sr. Business analyst position to be held on the 8th October 2014.
- Alongwith the same, an additional recruitment process by TCS for the Data Scientist position was also materialized in September to be held on the same day.
FOR DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES AND CHEMICAL SCIENCES
- Mr. Madhusudhan H. K., Head, Commercial Excellence, Galderma India Pvt. Ltd., conducted a guest lecture on the 23rd September 2014 in School of Science on the topic "Commercial Excellence and Medical Regulatory Affairs”.
- An overwhelming number of over 60 students of M.Sc. Part I and Part II, Biological Sciences and Statistics, attended the guest talk. The guest lecture concluded with possible opportunities for Internships as well as final placements.
- The internship process which duly starts in October was initialized in September this year with one of the Biological Sciences Part I student having got an opportunity for an internship in a brewery, his area of interest being to work in brewery and fermentation. The students start their internships in May-June next year.
