ORIENTATION PROGRAM ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-20

NMIMS – Sunandan Divatia School of Science organized a 6 Day Orientation - Student Induction Programme for the new batch of Bachelors Programs B. Sc. Applied Statistics & Analytics, Masters Programs in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Statistics and Applied Statistics & Analytics, 5-Year Integrated M.Sc. in Biomedical Science, Integrated Master of Science – Doctor of Philosophy Programs in Biological Sciences and Chemistry - Academic Year 2019-20, from 1st to 6th July, 2019.

The aim of the Student Induction Programme engages with the new students as soon as they come into the institution; before regular classes start. At the start of the induction, the incumbents learn about the institutional policies, processes, practices, culture and values, and their mentor groups are formed.

Students Induction covered a number of different aspects (SAGE):
Socializing: meeting other new students, senior students, students union, Lectures by Eminent People;
Associating: visits to University / college, visits to Dept./Branch
Governing: rules and regulations, student support etc;
Experiencing: Subject lectures, study skills, small-group activities, creative and performing arts, literary activities, universal human values, etc.

Mentoring Sessions were conducted as connecting with faculty members was the most important part of induction. Small groups of about approximately 20 students with a faculty mentor were created for discussions and open thinking towards the self. Follow Up after Induction by the assigned mentor will help these groups on fulfilling requirements of newly admitted students with regards to linguistics / communication skills. Bridge preparatory courses may be offered for weak students in other subjects also. This group will remain for the entire duration of stay of the student in the college.
