School of Science celebrated ‘National Education Day’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of the first Education Minister of Independent India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. As part of the celebrations, School of Science organized a one-day event with the theme “India Today” on 11th November 2014 at Juhu Jagruti Hall, 1st Floor, Mithibai College.
The Chief Guest Dr. Snehalata Deshmukh, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai, delivered a talk on ‘Emerging Trends in Education’. The Guest of Honour Ms. Flavia Agnes, Co-founder of ‘Majlis’, A legal resource centre, delivered a talk on ‘Woman Empowerment’. Dr. Jayant Gandhi, Honorary Joint Secretary, Shri Vile Parle Kelvani Mandal, and Dr. M. N. Welling, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NMIMS (Deemed to be University), also spoke on the occasion. Both of them commended the effort of the School of Science in celebrating the National Education Day every year.
Quiz and debate competitions were organized for the students. Students from all streams of the School, viz., Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Statistics and Physiotherapy, participated in the competitions. Winners of the quiz and the debate competitions were awarded cash prizes.
A cultural event was organized by the student members of Cheerzzz!!!, the cultural committee of School of Science.
