INVITATION SEMINAR: CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN BUSINESS ANALYTICS (PREDICTIVE MODELLING)

A program for working executives who wish to specialize in Analytics

SVKM's NMIMS, School of Science, Mumbai in association with SAS Institute India has amalgamated to offer a Certificate Program in Business Analytics comprising Statistical Concepts and SAS Predictive Modelling training using Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner.

In the invitation seminar "Current and Future Trends in Business Analytics in the Industry” on the 15th May 2014, organized by NMIMS, School of Science, Prof. Sunil Shirvaiker explained the need of the analytics in current hour and how this program would help the individual to gain the expertise in the same. He introduced the two courses available now at School of Science in partnership with SAS: First one is M. Sc. (Statistics) program integrated with SAS predictive analytics and Certificate program in Business Analytics. The second one Certificate course in Business Analytics comprises of Statistical Concepts and SAS Predictive Modeling training using Enterprise Guide and Enterprise Miner.

Dr. J. P. Gandhi, Hon. Secretary, SVKM and Mentor, School of Science in his address to the gathering mentioned that through this program NMIMS has taken a step further to bridge the gap between the academia and industry.

Moving further, Dr. M. N. Welling expressed his gratitude and pride towards introducing this course in NMIMS, School of Science and being one of the first few universities in taking a leap in the field of Analytics.

Mr. Sudeepta Chaudhuri - Asst. Vice President - Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics, Idea Cellular Ltd – the keynote speaker at this seminar – discussed currently how analytics plays a key role in his organization and also discussed the future of analytics. He predicted that the day is not far when a Chief of Analytics is also a key member of the board room along with CEO, CFO and others, thus making him an integral part of the decision making process in any business.

On behalf of the SAS Institute India, Mr. Amul Desai described how technology and different business tools are used to enable the industry to execute a variety of analytics. He explained the challenge for organizations today is big data in terms of velocity, variety and volume and how to carve out relevant data which can be used for analytics. He also explained how SAS is well equipped to handle and process such big data in few seconds due to its in memory application.
